85 380SE Head Gasket Repair

I developed a rad leak on my car, when I drained the coolant there was oil goo mixed in with it. I don't have any water in the oil.
I went to talk to my Indy to see about them doing it. He said there are aluminum threads in the block that need to be drilled out and inserts installed. This alone is an 8 hour job, total labor will be about $2400. Has anyone else heard of this?
I trust my Indy, they have treated me well in the past and tend to do only what's required.

yes, he's correct. make sure he has the drill fixture to get the angle correct. the head bolts are 90 degrees to the block except for the the ones that hold the cam bearings to the block, through the head. if no fixture, find a shop with 1. good luck, chuck.
