Can one order original Mercedes keys....
for a 1985 Mercedes 300D--I have the Title/and VIN Number---without going to the Dealer? Can i do it over the Internet instead? I am very far from a dealer now... (temporarily.)

I am 99% sure not. When I needed a key for my 190E 2.3, I had to go to the dealer and provide identification proving my ownership of the car. Then, they ordered the key, as it could not be cut locally.
Is it a laser-cut key? They are only to be ordered from dealers...

you may order your MB original keys only through
any MB dealership. your name should be on their database, and would require proper identification prior honouring your order. i have to wait for two weeks for my keys. |

You can fax the dealer your title, and some form of ID, and give them a credit card number, let them order it for you. But they won't mail it to you, you have to collect it in person, after showing proper ID. For me the whole procedure took less than a week (85 190E).
