W126 Factory Radar Detector?

Anyone have any info on this. A google search brought up little. Seems like an odd option, but thought it would be neat to get my hands on one. Not that it would do me much good.

I don't believe that there was such an option. Back when the cars were new, it was popular to have a Whistler remote radar detector, or to run the best: a Passport radar detector. Mercedes didn't install the Whistler remote, but dealers would (usually had it installed by a car stereo shop).

I see. Would the Radar say "Designed for Mercedes" on it with Logo though?

Could have been a dealer option as Jeff noted, something which MBAG never endorsed but was circulated in a catalog at MB USA dealers.

Well if you ever find a complete system, let me know. The one on eBay I found is just the head unit going for $10.00. Would like to find both ends and see how it works. Mostly just for the fun of it.

I will try to remember, but after 20+ years I doubt the system will work.

That does look like the Whistler remote, might do a search for that on ebay also.

I still have that on my 89 300se, It still turns on, but I never really tested it

That little head unit kind of replaces my ash tray.
