'90 300E alarm disconnect

I've searched other posts, but still have a problem with disabling the alarm. Under the passenger side floormat, there is a black box, about 1"x 12". I can't figure how it's supposed to open. How to get the lid off. Is there a hinge side? Once inside, what does the disconnect plug look like?? Thanks for any help with this!

Under the floor carpet and plastic cover in the front of the footwell, a box marked BECKER simply unplugs.

Do be careful with the radio if it is original, disconnecting the radio when the alarm is tripped will disable it.

Sorry,I'm not clear on what you mean by "careful".What can I do wrong,if it's just a disconnect-the- plug situation? Thanks.

I would do it with the battery disconnected, but as far as I remember, it will not affect the radio unless it is in alarm at the time of disconnect.

If/when you remove the radio you will notice an orange sticker on the back warning you to disconnect the wires in the correct order to avoid damage to the radio.

Never read that sticker. So that's what it says!

I'm grumpy, just not very good at it.

Glad it worked out okay.
