1991 300CE Window problem

Friend's car. The driver's window will not raise. Passenger window works so it is not a fuse. Feels like no power is getting to it. I thought the console button might be rusted and worked it about fifty times but no luck. Generally speaking I would think remove the center console buttons and next the door panel. Am I on the right track?

Ideas?

Thanks.

Check the fuses. I'm by no means an expert but the last three "window doesn't work" posts have been fuses.

I think the fuses are diagonal: RF/LR and LF/RR. Check fuse G and H.

Fuses were OK but I changed them anyway; you are correct - they are G & H. They are not diagonal in this model. And all three others open and close fine.

Can you see the wires at the door/chassis junction, possibly inside an accordion gasket-tube? Maybe a cracked wire at the flex point assuming the window was working AND you've got power to the switch. You could try opening the door and seeing if that's enough to move the (possible) crack and get the window up.

I'd pull the switch on the console and test with a multimeter before pulling the door panel, assuming you have the luxury of time and a place to have an open window. If not, then maybe proceed with the door panel and try to apply +12V directly to the window motor to see if it goes up.

Try swapping the window buttons around to rule out that first. Then as others said, apply power directly to window motor with a drill battery or something.

It's really not that hard to pull the panel - it takes me 10 minutes maybe (remember to lift up...). I would pull it off and disconnect the wires at the motor, turn KOEO, connect your multimeter to the wires, try the switch and see if you have power.

If you have 12v there, the problem is in the motor...
