Front seat srs airbag wiring question.

Hi,
I have a facelift E280 1994 with twin airbags.
Could someone tell me what the wires under and plugging into both the front seats do?
I have an interior for my car which is from a non-airbag car and was wondering if the wiring was transferable?

Thanks

They go to the seatbelt buckles. You could probably transfer them over.

Are they needed for the airbags or just to operate the seatbelt warning light?

If I fitted seats without this wiring would the airbags still work?

No they won't. The system is programmed not to deploy the airbags if the seatbelts are not worn.

The most complex systems can fail in the simplest way.

Is it possible to swap the sensors over?
Is there a way of completing the circuit so that the srs thinks the belts are being worn all the time?

Like I said, it's for the seatbelt buckle.

Actually this is not true. If the seatbelts are not worn the system deploys the airbags at a lower crash speed. It won't fire the seatbelt pretensions, though.

I've swapped the wire and seat belt anchor and that seems to be that. No seat occupancy sensor as they came later.
Thanks.
