89 300TE interior lights

How are the little lights on the bottom of the door supposed to work?

Should all four be on at the same time always?

Drained the battery overnight twice in the past week. Managed to get smart enough to keep the battery disconnected overnight last night. While preparing to do that again tonight, I realized that the lights for the back seats were on while the ones for the front seat had gone out. They stayed that way "a while", with the car running and the car off.

I disconnected the battery (they went out of course), but they came back on when the battery got reconnected.

Are they controlled by the long relay-like module or or is there some other gizmo involved?

Thx -CTH

There is a black plunger style switch in each door frame that controls those lamps. One is likely amiss.

So there's no mechanism in the door light circuit to keep them on after the doors are closed? (other than a bad switch )

That's easy enough to deal with. Thx -CTH

Right, there's no time delay relay for those lights, at least not on the early 124s.
