1994 E420 AC Blower Dust Filter
Does anyone know if all 1994 E420's got the dust filter or how you can tell whether or not the filter is installed without tearing into it? Looks like it's getting time to replace the blower motor and regulator.
Thanks.

Yes, all 1994 W124 chassis have dust filters located on the drivers side of the w/s wiper system under hood.

Thanks, mbdoc. Anyone have any good/bad experiences with URO blower motors?

Well, I may have found out for myself. I just replaced the blower motor with a URO brand. Now I'm getting a hum at high blower speeds and when I turn it from high to low, it sounds like a bearing screeching for a few seconds as the fan decelerates. It also makes the same noise when turning to the left only. When I turn the fan off, it spools down after a few seconds, which leads me to believe that it's not rubbing against any part of the blower housing because if it was rubbing it would stop immediately.
My options are to pull it out and return it right away, or let it run a few days and see if there is a possibility that the bearings need to wear in. I'm glad this part is fairly easy to get to. Any input?

HAMBURG TECHINIC
Well, I had all I could take of the Chinese Uro motor and decided to pack it up and return it. I put the old motor back in after oiling it with machine oil, but I can still hear it squeaking occasionally in the low position and I suspect it is just a matter of time before it completely freezes (probably on that 118 degree day in Arizona).
Does anyone have any experience with Hamburg Technic blower motors? They seem to be about 25% of the cost of an equivalent Behr, but so was the Uro and it turned out to be a disappointment. It's a good thing it only takes me 12 minutes to get the motor out now. Also, the motor has been replaced once before with a Bosch (not Behr, which I think is factory), but I think the same squirrel cage was re-used. The price differential between a motor sans cage and a motor with cage is significant. Presuming I can find another Bosch or even a Behr motor without the cage, what are the chances I can get a 17-year-old plastic squirrel cage off the old motor shaft without it breaking in the process? Thanks!

Thanks, mbdoc. I am just trying to examine all my options before paying $400 for a new Behr blower motor. But it's looking like any alternative to a Behr is simply junk.
