Clicking climate control? W126
Did a search, nothing.
Our '88 W126 has been so reliable, I cannot complain about anything, but recently its made a strange noise that has my wondering whats going on.... maybe its nothing. Its only happened about 3 or 4 times all week (and it started a week ago), but there has been an issue where I have heard a clicking in the instrument panel. I can duplicate the sound on my own when I turn the temperature dial on the climate control so I am assuming its something with the climate control.... when I switch from cool to warm it will click (which seems normal), but the other day in a drive-thru I heard it click on its own about 3 times within about 30 seconds, never did it again. Then yesterday it did it once and tonight I left in it and had it set on mid-level temperature and it clicked about 3 times within 10 seconds, but if I change the temperature to low or high, it stops. I didnt leave it where it would keep clicking, so not sure if it would have went away on its own or not. Its like it cant "make up its mind" or something. The temperature stayed fine and everything seems OK, but I have owned this car for almost 4 years and dont remember it doing this before. Is something going out in the climate control or ? Thanks in advance. |

I do not have the answer
on our 86 SDL we had the clicking issue. It sounded exactly like a turn signal. We think its a vacuum issue. A sensor gets the message to switch to another flap configuration and the sensor never gets the message that the transition has completed so it clicks over again, and again, and gives up, or succeeds. When we switched out the pushbutton unit with one from a 420sel and everything changed. SO....we still don't know.
