722.6 Stuck in 2nd

722.6 in a 1997 E320, 190K miles. Ran great until the last 2 to 3 weeks where I had been getting intermittent harsh shifts. Today I noticed at 60 mph it was stuck in 3rd, and wouldn't upshift. At the next restart I got "check engine electronincs" along with check engine light, and now it is stuck in 2nd. I'm guessing this is limp mode.

About 1000 miles ago I serviced the trans which included new ATF ordered from Phil (the proper expensive stuff), and new filter and gasket also from Phil. I checked the level with IR thermometer and the dipstick tool (also from Phil). Checked the level several times over the course of a couple weeks on various surfaces to ensure it was at proper level. Also checked harness for fluid wicking up, but mine wasn't suffering from that. I did replace the valve body solenoid pressure control spring during the service, as the original had collapsed, leading to sloppy 2 to 3 shift.

I've searched here, but it seems like I have already covered the bases. Is a trip to an Indy the next step?

I just went out and checked the fluid. It's right at the top mark for 80. No problem there. I know OBDII can't tell me much, but I ran it anyway and it returns P0715 and P0720.

Speed sensor codes..most likely the conductor plate, MB number 140-270-11-61

Car is now with david s poole, who posts here frequently. He too believes it is the conductor plate, and all the research I have done at this site and BenzWorld seems to point to that part as the culprit. Normally I would enjoy doing this myself, but the current painful condition of my back won't allow it. Hopefully it will be a straightforward job for david.
