Anyone Ever Clean the A/C Evap on their W126 ???
Car is a 1985 380SE with approximately 130K. I've been running in circles chasing down poor A/C performance and have determined that my evap may just need cleaning. With blower on high, if I hold my hand about a foot from the vents I hardly feel anything. Seems like the evap is restricted.
Has anyone ever done this? Where do I start? I did a search and saw a couple of threads on evap cleaning, but nothing for the W126.

A major cause of lack of air flow, however is a blower motor that ain't hackin' it. I'd lube the bushings on the motor when it's out and make sure "high" is HIGH.

how and where do you lube the bushings? is this the same as brushes? how does the voltage reg play into this? my volts drop to 13.08 when a/c blower is on high and 13.7 on low, volts are 14.08 with a/c off. are my brushes wearing? voltage reg needed?

The blower motor starts to draw more amps as it ages. Enough so, that MB issues a TSB about it and a fix kit. The fix is a 30 amp aux. fuse holder added outside the fuse box. I'd lube the motor on general principle.
I'd say you're #'s sound good for the alternator unless you're talking that kind of drop at 3000 rpm. The blower motor bushings aren't the motor brushes. The bushings are at either end of the motor casing at the shaft.

So how do you lube the bushings? With ATF? Do you soak them or just wipe a little on?
