w140 sway bar bolt
Hi I'm working on bushings.I got the bushing mounts off. However can't get sway bar to come lose from link mounts.
How do you? |
If they have never been replaced they will have a 19mm nut, 18mm if replaced. Loosen that nut until the joint spins and you are no longer loosening. Then put a wrench on the nut and hold it while using a 6mm allen to turn the threaded socket clockwise. Careful to not put excessive force on the 6mm allen, it will round out rather easily and it's a real PITA to get it off once that happens.

Thank you

Sway bar link bolt the allen part rounded out. Will use easy out to hold allen hole while I put everything back. Bushing removal failure,Have added rubber around bushing instead.

I'm going to order end links and cut off old ones from sway bar.Found some for $12 each.

I end up drilling out the rounded stud, then nut came right off.The other I used a sawsall to it.Job went real fast after sway bar was out.
Car now drives like a dream. |
