The Negatives of no AC?

I've done a lot of reading on what goes wrong with W124 and W201 AC. And i've seen alot of ways to fix the problem, which usually involves lots of $$$$. So, if i decide to buy the 88' 300E i'm looking at, and not fix the AC, can the lack of a properly functioning climate controll system cause terrible problems? Other than the fact that during a few days in the summer here in Seattle, i'll be a little uncomfortable, are there any other cons to not having AC? Can mold or mildew form because of excess humidity? I need to convince my parents that buying a perfect 300E (other than the broken AC) is still a good choice! My dad is concerned. HELP!!
