1985 MBZ 500 SEL questions
I just fixed the vacuum system, previous owner had it all messed up. Before that the engine temp hovered around 70 C. Now it is at about 90 C. The Aux cooling fan does not turn on, does anyone know at what temp C, the Aux fan switch activates? The fan and its circuit is good.
The other question is, what is normal operating temp for his car? I will be putting the car on a gas analyzer later this week to adjust the fuel injection as it is running rich. Thank you for the help. |

Engine temp is related to the temperature thermostat in that car, 85C is normal.
Aux fan comes on at 100C.

Thank you, I thought it was running hot but it has been right in that area parked, so good there and since it never reaches 100 C the fan doesn't come on but gonna change the fan temp switch anyways.

another model - same question
Just to continue the conversation:
Whats normal temp for W124 - E320, 1995. Usually observing around 90 C, but after highway ride, first traffic jam - can go up-to 100, rare - 105C. When starting to move - going down to 90-95. Waterpump replaced in 2009, no other issues with cooling system ( coolant mix, rad, fan opening, Aux fan is kicked on AC on properly) No problem on the highway speed, no problems in city only driving, no problems in stop-n-go traffic |
