Question Transmission differences 87 190e-300e

Hi guys,i am about to swop my 87 190e transmission for an 87 300e transmission as mine (190e.722.409) is slipping slightly this xchange will be done as i will be overauling it and in the interim will be using the 300e xmssm.what is the difference if any and will it affect my performance.the 300 is a three litre engine.thanks for your input as i might keep the 300:s xmssn in the 201 body.

deends. is the 190 a 4 or a 6? if it's a 6, it's the same. if it's a 4, it's geared differently and will not drive the same. good luck, chuck.

Your 190e uses a 722.4 transmission. W124 300e uses a 722.3 transmission.

If your 190e is a 2.6 M103 engine then a 722.3 will bolt straight on to the engine however there are some internal and external differences. The external differences may cause a fitting problem.

Oh and 1 more thing.
The speedo output from a 722.3 is different from a 722.4
If you change from a 722.4 to a 722.3 you will need to change the or adapt a W124 722.3 cluster speedo to your 190e.
