Transmission Rear pump replacement

I suspect my rear pump to have failed. Sounds like rocks in the rear housing.

Is this a procedure commonly performed by shops? Or is my shop guy gonna say "might as well rebuild it"? I don't want it rebuilt if it doesn't need it. it's just noisy.
