Well its hard to tell via that description. Does it increase with car speed? Does it go away or come back at all depending on speed? Is it a one-time CLUNK and then done?
One-time clunk would point toward suspsension components and/or the diff being worn. Most common in the rear suspension are the swaybar end links, but you would likely hear the clunk around corners too. Your problem could be caused by a number of things unfortunately. Most likely (in my experience) it is just wear on the rear diff OR a bad axle. Check the axle boots for any rips or places where the grease has leaked out. However since you notice the clunk, it is imperative that you check the condition of your flex discs...they fail catastrophically and dangerously...not something to chance on. Its also a good time to check everything else under there, including thhe driveshaft carrier bearing (can also contribute to that noise) and all the rubber suspension mounts.
