2001 ml320 alarm remote key problem

have a 2001 ml320 when i take out the key from the ignition it continues to buzz until i shut the door .the remote will not lock the doors but the lock button on the console locks all the doors .when i go to open the doors with the remote they dont open .when i insert the key in the door the aslarm doesnt sound but the buzz as if the key is still in sounds .on the odometer there is a little icon that looks like wrenches and the numbers 2000 blinks then the mileage appears the steering wheel wont lock . i changed the batteries and synced the remote but this didnt help .a alarm guy says it might be the ignition module . any help

Not sure on the buzzing, never heard of that one. I would think there might be a switch in the ignition lock which may be causing this. I used to work on this chassis a lot but never heard of this, but it's been awhile. Are you sure the lights are turned off? It's not giving you any warning in the cluster as to why it's buzzing?? Like "Take Key" or "Headlights On"???
On the locking, if you are sure the synchronization was done properly, then I'd assume a bad key, my first thought also was the batteries, make sure they are installed properly and all the plastic film was removed from them, sometimes they protect them with adhesive tape.
The "wrench" is simple, that's the FSS telling you it's time to do a service, it says in the owners manual how to reset this you can do it yourself, look under FSS or Flexible Service System in the manual index.

They are probably just using different words for the same thing, are the estimates way different? Never had a buzzer problem on an ML so unsure. Also you could try posting this in the ML forum instead of this one. Kind of surprised a moderator hasn't moved it.
