OVP Symptoms include no dash lights?
1995 C280, 220k miles. Engine shuts off intermittently. When this happens the dash lights don't light up, it's as-if there isn't a battery connected. New battery, cleaned cables, new alternator within the last 2 months. Voltage when running is 13.5.
I can believe that the stalling is because of the OVP. Will this also cause the instrument cluster to not light up? -Tad

I would bet you it's the ignition switch.

I didn't even see daddi's advice and was thinking the same thing. When it dies again try wiggling the igniton key a little or try cycling the ignition on/off a few times. I think this year C class had the "cassette" style switch which is problematic BUT easier to replace than is typical on slightly older MBs.
