93 300SE Transmission Question

I have been looking at a 1993 300SE. The issue with the car is that the transmission will not move into gear. Will the transmission in the w124 92&93 models fit this w140. The price is a decent price for the car and the car list 124,000 miles. I'm wondering should I invest in this or on to the next. I know that the m104 engine is tried and true. What's the deal on the transmissions for the w124 and w140 6 six cylinder cars? Any information would help.

Thanks

No, that's a 722.5 hydraulic 5 speed used in the 140 six cylinders from 1992 to 1996, similar to the one used in the 129 SL sixes from 1990 to 1996. The 124s are all four speed 722.3s and .4s. I'd want to get some diagnostics done before buying.

The 722.5 has some rudimentary electronic control via the MAS box. I cleared recorded codes on my 300CE-24 (similar setup to 300SL-24 5-speed) and restored the box to former glory. The box is, basically, hydraulic but this is an additional aspect to be aware of.

This is Europe talking and I understand that 124s in the US may not have had the 722.5.
