1985 280SE Grey Market. starts, runs for a few seconds and dies.

Please help! The Mercedes Benz Gurus are needed. I was given a `85 280SE Grey market Mercedes. It sat for a year and then was given over to me. I replace the locked up fuel pump as well as the filter. I start the car, it will run for a few seconds, then die on me. I could feather the throttle and keep it going but when I stop it dies. I also learned about jump #7 and #8 on the relay. I jumped the connectors and it still starts up and dies shortly after just as before. I am getting good spark. I have the M110 engine service manual. All I can see in the fuel system that may be giving me trouble is the warm up/full load compensator. I know this topic has been covered at length here before but it is difficult locating the right threads. What Am I missing here?
