300E rear headrests and window shade

Hey Guys,

Recently I picked up a 300E and so far the only thing that doesn't work is the rear headrest switch. I also have a rear window shade, but that functions. However when it's a full extension it make a "thump thump thump" noise much like a warped window regulator does.

My question is is there something that prevents the rear head rests from going down if the shade is up? And if not where should I start trouble shooting first? At the switch?

I guess I need to get in there and see what's making the rear shade make noise, but it extends and retracts okay for now.

Thanks for the help.

Colin

Yes, there is a switch for the rear sunshade that requires that the shade be down and fully seated before it will allow the headrests to plop down. Quite often the shade isn't quite down far enough so the headrests won't release.

Yeah mine it catching on the slot, but when I adjusted it to fit properly they still won't go down.

It there a schematic or a DIY anywhere on how to access the rear shade and switch?
