96 W210 - Flashing Red and Green lights under rear view mirror.

I can't find my manual so I thought I would ask you guys here.

MY car has a red and green light under the rear view mirror.
Lately when I use the remote and unlock the car, I noticed that the lights came on flashing similtaneously.
Is this warning me that the main battery is going bad?
I haven't had any problems with the battery that I know of.

Thanks.

I believe it's telling you to change the battery in the key.

I think the battery in the key is the alternating flashes of the lights.
I currently have the simultaneous flashes.

Change the battery in the key.
What have you got to loose?

The reason I doubt it is the battery in the remote is due to the fact that I had alternating light flashing about 3-4 months ago which is when I changed the battery on it. It did solve the problem.

I wonder if the service guys at my local MB dealership would give me the answer over the phone. I am sure they will try to get me to make an appointment but I will try none the less.

Based on my source ( a german forum ), flashing red/green lights are a sign of key battery or vehicle battery saying goodbye.

Your source is wrong, alternating flashing of the red and green lights indicate an unauthorized start attempt.

So what does the simultaneous flashing mean?

The flashing at the same time I also believe means weak remote batteries.

This happened once in y 1997 E320 and I did not understand it. I did not change any battery and it has not happened again. Weird.

You are having a completely different issue. The original poster specifically denied alternating lamps.

Alternating red and green lamps means that you have a drive authorization failure (DAS). Try locking and unlocking the car with the door cylinder.
