The self leveling rear struts for the wagons have always been about that expensive. I recall roughly $500 was the price back in the late 1990s when I was going over my 124.193. In real terms, it appears to have gone down in price over time.

As stated earlier, it only needs replacement if leaking hydraulic fluid. Ride quality issues are addressed by replacing the accumulators.

Would anybody care to enlighten me on how to go about diagnosing the accumulator's condition? Seems the rear suspension on mine is relatively stiff and get somewhat of a "bottoming-out" affect when going onto/off of a highway bridge at speed. The car seems to have always ridden like that in the 3+ years I've had it.

117+K mi.

Tell me about the "lever" actuator arm somewhere under the car that is adjustable(?). Thanks for guidance.

Unless they are leaking, the rear "shocks" generally are good.

Prove they are leaking before considering replacement.

In my little world, no puddles of hydraulic fluid on the garage floor equates with no leaks. I like to keep things simple...
