Rearview Mirror Broken C220
Hello, My rearview cromatic mirror is broken on my C220. It has the infrared sensor on the bottom and the mirror shakes like crazy! It is so loose I can hardly even adjust it. Does anyone know what the problem may be or how it comes apart? How much a new one costs? How to get it apart?
Please let me know it drives me crazy lol Thanks! |

Replacement cost will be a little less than $200.
I'm not sure what your problem is, though. The mirror hangs off a plastic "foot" attached to the roof of the car. Is this piece shaking too, or is it just the mirror itself? If you take hold of the "foot" and yank (not the mirror itself) you can remove it and try re-attaching (this is quite difficult and needs a bit of brute force). It may be that you have knocked it part out or something.

Rearview mirror
Hello, Thanks for posting a response! The part attached to the roof doesnt shake. It is the part where the roof conenction goes into the body of the mirror is where the problem is. The mirror body its self shakes due to something loose inside I think. If i just knew how to get it down or whats inside the mirror causing the loose fitting that would help. If you tug at the roof connector it will come down?
Let me know what you think. THanks |

Yes, if you tug at the roof connector, the whole assembly will come down. It is designed to detach relatively easily in case your head hits it in an accident. It can be a bit tricky to put back, though, but nothing that a bit of perseverance won't solve!
There will be some wiring running from the roof to your mirror (because yours is photochromatic). Watch you don't pull too hard and pull the wiring out. There is probably a plug connector that will enable you to take the mirror away from the wires. I know that a new photochromatic mirror without a wiring loom is 125 GB Pounds. That is about $150. Good luck.

We have repaired MANY of these plastic housing mirrors. THEY are alot more$$$ than $150 here. Depending on year & model they can run as high as $600.

Rearview Mirror
Hey, thanks for all of the help. Yeah before I spend any money I would like to fix it myself. I have no clue what is inside of the mirror that makes it move though. At least I know how to get it down though. I wasn't sure if it detached form the roof. Thanks for that info.
If anyone has anything else that would be great. Thanks a lot! |
