Lost My High-Beams
Last night coming home through a wicked storm on back roads I lost my high beams! The ride was a white-knuckler to say the least.
Here is what happens: If I have just the headlights on and I push the lever forward for brights I loose all headlamps. If I have the fog lights on and turn on the brights I loose all headlamps except for the fog lights. If I pull the lever back towards me, (as if flashing high beams at someone) the high beams work. I actually figured this out at the end of my ride home and held the lever back for the last fifteen minutes of my drive last night. I am guessing there is something wrong with the lever in the steering column. Any thoughts out there? Its a 95 E320 wagon. Thanks |

I have the exact same problem...it's hereditary.
What I've done is quickly and repeatedly move the stalk back and forth until the high beams come on. They will. My 95 E320 wagon does it all the time and I do not have "flash" when the lights are off. My 91 300TE never had that problem.
