1988 190E coolant level sensor
Hi,
Anyone have experience with coolant level sensors going bad on a 1988 190E? My girlfriend's car started acting up this morning; the coolant level light came on. I checked out, it did look a little low so I topped it off. The coolant level light is still on, and the check engine light is also on. Could these be related? Not too familiar w/MB's but on alot of cars the check engine light is emissions stuff only. Thanks, Tom |
Although my year 190E doesnt have the sensor, I have read about them here on the list that they go bad. The sensor is located right there in the coolant expansion tank/resevoir. You can see it at the bottom, on the motor side of the resevoir where it fitts into the res. ( My car has the cutout in the res but no sensor).
Check it out , maybe it is all funked up inside , or something simple like the wire leads are cruddy. I would take it out and clean it up. I'm not sure if it is related to the check engine light coming on, but it may. |
coolant level?
make sure that you aren't confusing the coolant light with the engine oil light. You may be low on oil and not coolant.
