Hi,
Anyone have experience with coolant level sensors going bad on a 1988 190E? My girlfriend's car started acting up this morning; the coolant level light came on. I checked out, it did look a little low so I topped it off. The coolant level light is still on, and the check engine light is also on. Could these be related? Not too familiar w/MB's but on alot of cars the check engine light is emissions stuff only. Thanks, Tom |

Although my year 190E doesnt have the sensor, I have read about them here on the list that they go bad. The sensor is located right there in the coolant expansion tank/resevoir. You can see it at the bottom, on the motor side of the resevoir where it fitts into the res. ( My car has the cutout in the res but no sensor).
Check it out , maybe it is all funked up inside , or something simple like the wire leads are cruddy. I would take it out and clean it up. I'm not sure if it is related to the check engine light coming on, but it may.

coolant level?
make sure that you aren't confusing the coolant light with the engine oil light. You may be low on oil and not coolant.
