Can anyone tell me how to do a reverce Band Adjustment on a 1981 380 sel (Trans id W4A 040) and also is there any external adjustment that would affect reverce? Thanks for any help you can give.

This trans doesn't have a reverse band! There aren't any external adjustments for reverse.

Then maybe you might know whay it feels as if I have my foot pressed way down on the brake when I put the car into reverse. It just doesn't want to move at all then it will start to go a little bit at a time. It's a Major Hassle!!!!! It's running ok in drive, but it also seems to want to go forward when the car is in neutral. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!!!

Your reverse clutches are worn out when you get that feeling. If it just slipped it might only be a seal. its the same difference anyway as it has to come apart to fix it and you will replace both parts. In your case when it feels like its in two gears you have gotten the whole pack so loose that some of the discs are coming unsplined and jam. You will probably need the steel discs also. They aren't real expensive. The real damage will be done after they get metal to metal the pieces go everywhere and easily foul the valve body.
