Craftsman air compressor making clanking noises.

My two air tank roll around Sears Craftsman air compressor began making "clanking" noises when operating. I checked the oil level, it appears to be correct. Any ideas?

Hmmm does the oil look clean? Maybe time for a changing? I know my one HF compressor could use a oil change, but just haven't had the time to figure out what I put in exactly.

Any other visible broken bits on it? Maybe a loose fitting or something?

How can I tell if it is a broken valve? Do I need to disassemble a part(s) of the unit?

This is a link to the Sears manual, you will need Adobe PDF reader to open it.

The valves are 8 and 9 on the drawing, but honestly it could be a number of things. If it operates OK (compresses air), it is probably not the reed valves. See this for some other causes: Air Compressor Trouble-Shooting, Problems, The Causes, Solutions
