condensor fan out of controll

I dont know what the problem is but once in a while I will turn on my ignition and the condensor fan will run without the a/c on and motor dead cold. It will also do it sometimes when it is Idleing, it comes on for a second and shuts off for 2 seconds and is very sparratic. I have an 84 190D any help would be appriciated!
