Rear Bushings
I just bought a '84 190D 5 spd. I feel like a lower control arm bushing or something is worn. When I accelerate the car lurches to the right. Any ideas? Only under torque the rear end seems to shift. Thanks in Advance.

There are five links on each side of the car. Examine them using some type of lever like a large screwdriver. Any excessive wear will be apparent. Usually the links that are at a 45 degree angle to the rear axle wear out. Buy your parts at Fastlane here.

Thanks: I looked at them today. They all looked good and didn't move around by hand. I didn't try a lever on them however. What will I ask for at Fastlane when I order? Ernie

Most parts are named Phil...
At least that's what I ask for when I call, Phil then renames the parts to something cryptic and obscure!!

diff mounting bushes aren't what you should ask for.
Just wanted you to realize there are a lot of rubber mounting pieces on the car that need to be inspected, diff mount being one. I don't believe in replacing parts until a problem is fixed, so it is important to know at what mileage (life span) the parts have existed, and the proper method and tool for inspecting piece. On some of the cars I think you can visually measure the diff mounts to see if they have collapsed, is the rear sagging at all? |

On visual inspection, no sign of wear or slop. I shook everything as vigorously as I could. I couldn't find any play. Haven't used a pry bar yet. Didn't check any diff. mounts. This car will take a spell and "roll" toward the right corner. A mechanic rode with me and thought the right wheel was "walking" toward the front of the wheelwell. Shocks and struts are good. Car has 250K on it.
