1996 E320
Hello All. I have a 96 E320 that has a starting issue. This is what I found so far. There were codes in the computer relating to not having a signal from the crankshaft position sensor as well as a signal not sent from the remote. I changed the key and started getting a signal from the mirror as well as door locking. Now that I have that working I installed the crank position sensor and none of the codes are coming back. Ok now this is where it gets strange I have tried this 3 times on different days but now it doesn't seem to work. This is what I was doing that was making it start before. I would take the fuses out of the module in the computer box and install them back in, also unplugged the number 6 injector while inserting a noid light for the plug that plugged into the number 6 injector to see if I had injector pulse since I've always had good fuel pressure. The car would start right away. So I plugged the injector back in while it was running and the car runs smooth. Even had it running for an hour just to let it get a good heat soak. After about an hour of sitting I could go right back to the car and it would start up but if you let it sit for any longer it would not start. Its strange because if I didn't take the fuses out and unplug the injector while inserting a noid light it wouldn't start. I tried all types of different variations of this but that was the only thing that worked. Now I try to do the same thing and it doesn't work so this is what I know. The injectors are not firing due to no signal. I think I probably have a problem with the module in the computer box or a faulty ignition switch. Does anybody have any ideas on how to test it?? Thanks in advance!!
