Normal idle speed 300E

Looked in the manual and used search, no solid numbers

What is the idle speed with engine warm in N and D of a normal 300E?
I am getting less than 600 in D and 700 in N. The car is still lumpy at idle and smells rich in mixture. Motor mounts were replaced in the last year, but the smell and speed seems to be a little low.

Thanks.

My 300e has always been 600 rpm in drive, and about 800 rpm in neutral, when fully warmed up.

Oxygen sensor?
Idle control valve?

The idle control valve is on top, I guess that has to come out for a cleaning. Thanks.

When it's running, try unplugging the idle control valve. You should notice a big drop in rpm, almost to the point of stalling, say 400 rpm. If you notice little or no difference when you unplug it, you'll have found all or at least some of your problem.
