WOW... starter change in 190E 2.3
two days, still working on it.
made special tools to access the bolts, but top one is buggered up from previous tech... should I cut a hole in the firewall? MAN this is tight. any links to a DIY on here? I found one post about removing pitman arm, and other linkage to get it to drop... not there just yet, still trying to get it free of the block... |
If you are having access problems to the top bolt, you can take off the driveshaft front coupling and the trans crossmember and dip the rear of the engine/trans assembly down to get better access over the top of the trans.
If the head is really butched then i don't know, I've never seen anyone put a hole in the firewall to do this, but........ |
The early cars do take about 3-4 hrs.
Start by supporting the engine & then removing the motor arm & mount on the drivers side. |
