WOW... starter change in 190E 2.3
two days, still working on it.
made special tools to access the bolts, but top one is buggered up from previous tech... should I cut a hole in the firewall? MAN this is tight. any links to a DIY on here? I found one post about removing pitman arm, and other linkage to get it to drop... not there just yet, still trying to get it free of the block...

If you are having access problems to the top bolt, you can take off the driveshaft front coupling and the trans crossmember and dip the rear of the engine/trans assembly down to get better access over the top of the trans.
If the head is really butched then i don't know, I've never seen anyone put a hole in the firewall to do this, but........

The early cars do take about 3-4 hrs.
Start by supporting the engine & then removing the motor arm & mount on the drivers side.
