1990 300E FUEL PUMP, NEED HELP
Dear Srs,
One of the fuel pumps in my 300E (1990) is not working, i took the car to a mechanic (a bad one) and he cut the wires that connect to the pumps. There are two pairs of wires that connect to the pumps, can anyone help me with instructions on how to connect those wires to the pumps. Thank you for your attention and advice. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! |

Hmm. If you've got pics or can tell us which of the two pumps it is, that would probably be helpful .
Happy new year to you too!

you need a positive wire to both pumps.connect one pump then use a jumper wire, for both positive and negative.Replace both pumps at same time.Ebay has pumps at a good price.your mechanic should be shot for cutting the wires

If I understand correctly, you just need to repair 2 cut wires. Make sure you join the same wires together, they are color coded, may need to clean them a bit to see the colors, you can use a solvent like wd40 to clean the grime off. Then you can join them, I would recommend soldering them, you can search the net on how to solder wires, you also then need to protect the solder, minimum you can use electrical tape, I would recommend something called shrink tubing, again look on the net for info on repairing automotive wires, there are several different ways to repair wiring but I recommend learning how to solder.

Jose, I would insist the mechanic repair the cut wires. What was his reason for cutting them?

The pumps have a positive and negative connetion, and the terminals are different sizes to prevent connecting them incorrectly. The wires are also color coded and I think that positive will be black/red and ground will be brown, IIRC.
