W124 Dual Aux Fans, Bearing Replacement
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to double check this with you guys. I know this topic has been covered with respect to the older fans as seen on the 126 and 123 chassis units. I wanted to see if anyone has done this on a newerish car like the 124. My 91's dual fans bearings are in need of replacement. I bought a 10 pack of 6001-RS2 on eBay a while back and have not used any. They are Chinese bearings. I forget the company that was listed on the box. Here are some nicer SKF units: SKF 6001-2RS Ball Bearings, 6001-2RS1 Bearing, 12x28x8 | 1000148 I am just not 100% sure if these bearings are the ones that work on these newer-ish style fans.. Also I am not sure if I can easily remove the dual fan assembly without needing to tear deep into things (like removing the condenser or bumper, etc)

This thread may help you. The author is a great guy...
Let's change the Aux Fans on a W124! If you succeed in changing the bearings on a fan, please do a complete photo documented DIY. I have one bad fan in my basement I'd like to redo for a spare. Rgds, Chris W. '95 E300D, 391K
