Question about cam removal on a m112 3.2

hello all,
I'm disassembling a 2001 3.2 V6 for possible head gasket issue. I've removed the intake and valve covers and getting ready to remove the cam sprockets and then of course the heads to see where my coolant leak is. My question is regarding the position at disassembly. I have a 2004 crossfire manual I'm referencing and it says to get the engine 40* ATDC and there would be copper links in the chains. Here is what the manual says:

The crankshaft driven timing chain maintains camshaft (6) and
balance shaft (3) operation and timing. Timing marks on the
crankshaft (2) , balance shaft (3) and camshafts (5) are
aligned with copper links (1) in the timing chain to keep
symetrical valve and ignition performance.

I do not see anything on the chains or a mark on the timing cover to coincide with the markings on the crankshaft ensuring that I'm in the right position to continue removing the cam sprockets. What am I overlooking?
