Code reader for a '92 124 series (400e)
I read a few threads on this topic today but didn't find an answer.
Is there one available on the consumer market place or should this be taken to a MB specialist to read the codes? TIA |

There are two places to read codes. One of them is at pin 3 of the EZ ignition box, read in duty cycle. The other is the connector near the battery, you read with a diode and a resistor. I made a box many years ago with a resistor, and LED and a pushbutton switch with alligator clips on the leads.
Once I sell my 300E, you can have it for the postage.

Thanks for the offer but no thanks.
I read that code readers are easy to build for this model but I don’t have the time or desire to screw around that way so a search for Mercedes 124 diagnostic code reader lead me to the following |

That thing in the picture on the eBay listing is the exact same home-made code reader that Air&Road is offering you for free. I made mine using an old margarine tub and about $7 worth of parts from Radio Shack.

Hi Larry,
I'd be more than happy to accept your offer of the free code reader. Just let me know when to send you the postage to zip 10804. Thanks. Richard
