W126 1985 500SEC 500 SEC Transmission won't Shift
Hello All, My first Post...
The Mrs. (No Puns please) got the 1985 500 SEC home normally two weeks ago. Unloaded groceries, and the car wouldn't start. After a next morning search, I found that the rotor was completely burnt. It literally disentraged into my hand. Found the parts (Plugs, Wires, Rotor, & Cap) & replaced all - Starts up just beautifully - like it used to. The only part I worked on was under the air cleaner and the plugs is as deep as I got going down onto the engine block. Now, although it starts wonderfully, it won't shift out of 1st gear. The linkage behind the carburetor hasn't been changed. The Fluid Level is 0.2" below the 'Low' mark on the dipstick when cold.and all vacuum lines look fine. It shifted just fine before the ignition changes. Help Please... |

If it moves in 1 st gear, just won't go into second then check the kick-down switch under the gas peddle. If it is stuck down, it won't shift until the RPMs are very high.
