98 MBZ blower fan

blower fan quit - changed the resister, then the fan only came on once in a great while - changed the brushes on the blower motor, now the fan comes on pretty often but still runs random. The old brushes when taken out looked like an icecream scoop had taken a chunk out and the new ones are square at the end. Any help???

what do you mean Resistor? Or do you mean regulator? Are you using original or aftermarket. The motor by itself can be bad. The push button unit may need to be re-sodered. There are soo many things about that. A good A/C mechanic should know.

yes, regulator. We ordered one for an E model now, that the original part is no longer available. The first new part we ordered had to be rewired and soldered, but it did not work, so we found a place that we could order a part that replaced the original part. This is now in the car and runs a lot of the time but still random
