Dual exhaust

Is almost time to replace the muffler on my 560SL, some one took the cat out already, i was thinking maybe putting or custom meke make a complete dual exhaust for it, has any one tryed this? is there enough room under the car for it? Do i need to make a crossover pipe to conect the two? I was thinking maybe putting some of those strigth thru mufflers on it, is it gonna be too noisy, would the inyection sistem make up for the richer leaner condition? Finally am i gonna gain anythig doing that?

Thanks

You might look into something from a 450SL or Euro 500SL. www.timevalve.com has illustrations. Those systems look like dual exhaust except at the cat and rear muffler. I don't think there's room under a 107 for left and right exhaust pipes.

Oops, you're outside the US. The only thing left is to split the rear muffler into two separate mufflers. Then you'll have full dual exhaust.

I was thinking maybe make a full dual set up, even two mufflers, i guess i will find out when i try, still there is the concer fot the cross over pipe, does it need it? since every sistem i have seen has one i will make one for it just in case.

My point is that the stock early US and Euro systems without cat are full dual systems until the rear muffler. Both systems have a crossover pipe. If you wanted to go full dual, you'd only have to modify the last two or three feet. If you have a US 560SEL, evertyhing from the exhaust manifolds to the back end of the transmission will have to be redone for dual exhaust. It should have dual pipes from the second cat to the muffler.
