Correct Orientation of exhaust manifold gaskets

Motor is a 110.

Geting ready to pull a manifold, and the gaskets I received appear to be stainless steel. When laid on the flatter side and then viewd from the side, there is a ridge in the middle throughout the full circumfrance of the gasket.

Which direction do I orient the ridge? To the manifild, or to the head? Or is it a mute point and the orientation only works one way and will be obvious when I've pulled the manifold?

JR,

If they are similar to the gaskets on the 560, the metal side goes toward the head and the fiber side toward the manifold. What you have to watch closely is how they are situated, they can be put on 180* out. On the 560, three are one end up and the fourth is flipped 180* - if that makes sense. I'm guessing your's will be similar.

I had an exhaust leak, figured out which gasket, and replaced the whole side. It took sitting with the manifold in my lap and fitting each gasket to determine the orientation. Then I laid them out on the fender in order so I could get them on correctly.
