SRS Fault Following EIS Renewal

2003 S500 (220.175) with 115K miles... EIS inoperative at temperatures below 50 deg F.

Installed new EIS (PN 220 545 09 08) and coded it with vehicle-specific "blue" key (000 905 00 99 9999).

Now SRS warning appears in IC at startup; fault code check reveals code 9077... "VIN in control module N2/7 (SRS) and N73 (EIS [EZS]) are not identical."
Fault did not exist prior to installation of the replacement EIS.

Query of the new EIS reveals "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" stored as VIN.

Can this fault be corrected with a dealer's SDS or does a new EIS need to be installed and coded?
