$260 for a new Remote key for 1996 E300D. Anyone know cheaper?
I know I can get the valet key for $22. Will the trunk be permanently locked if I lock with that? Or will I still be able to open trunk from inside?
Thank you in advance. |

my dealer wants $300 plus uncle sam's share for a key.
I though the older cars have a blade key unlike the newer ones which have a fob shaped key. My dealer quoted me this price for a bladeless fob shaped key

If you are in an area with multiple MB dealers call around since the price varies from dealer to dealer. Not a lot -- maybe 10%?
If I was too late to help, at least you get 18 mos of roadside assistance via 1-800-FOR MERCedes

Somewhere on these types of forums i saw an add for a Russian place that duplicates the keys with the chassis number for Mercedes. Roughly $80

In any event, the key will need to be ordered unless you can find a locksmith with the key codes. |

Does the key you bought fit and turn in the trunk lock?
