Timing chain rail pin

1997 C280 head gasket replacement complete except the timing chain rain pin will not go all the way in its hole. Is there a possibility a pressure lock prevents it from seating?

Most likely the pin is not lined up with hole in block. wiggle chain and rail while tapping on pin

You can also use a very soft, mini dummy hammer to tap it in. Be ultra careful though.
