squeeky fan fix?

the fan on my 300e '88 is squeeking, i would compare it to the sound of fingernails on a chalk board etc., and it seems like a lot of digging to get to the fan motor itself and do it up nice to stop being noisy.

what if one puts the env. control unit into defrost and sprays aerosol lube into the intake vent by the wiper blade as the deforst runs? spare lube would end up on the windsheild, then wiped off and the motor would get some lube

or would this mess things up?
