W124 window switch: door down not up, console nothing

1987 300 TDT

I was driving home from a ski in northern VT today and rolled the rear windows down a bit for sweaty ventilation. The right rear wouldn't activate using the console switch. I reached back and hit the door button and cracked the window. When I went to roll it up, nothing. I tried a bunch of times with both switches with no result and now have plastic over the gap. I could get the window to go further down with the door switch, but I'm scared to go all the way.

At home I pulled the console cover and tried swapping the RR window switch with another and it still didn't work. The RR switch worked the LR window just fine.

I'd love any suggestions on diagnosing what seems likely to be electrical connection related.

Did I mention it's been COLD in these parts and is forecast to get that way again! THANKS.
