1983 300D sunroof won't close

We bought an 83 300D last summer for our son. We've had various repairs since purchasing. We finally got the car running really well and we took it out for a drive today. While out I decided to open the sunroof (sliding electric). The sunroof open about 1" and then stopped. It now will not close. We cannot hear the motor making any noise. We pulled the sunroof switch and cleaned the contacts and replaced it. We checked the fuse, it was blown but we used another spare fuse of the same amperage and still nothing. We know that there is a manual way to open and close it and we were able to locate the motor in the trunk, but there is no manual tool. I have searched online and I can't find the tool anywhere. I see one online that looks like a stubby nut with a flat head end but from our owner's manual, it appears that the tool is a cylinder with an open end. Does anyone know what the tool actually looks like and where we can get one online? Link please. I also ordered a new switch but we are not sure that it isn't the motor. We really just want to close it and leave it closed.
Any help GREATLY appreciated!

Examine the motor

You will find a squared-off shaft that a 1/4" open-end wrench will fit. You can use that to close the sunroof. You may have to pull out the left inner trunk liner for access.

If you now hear the motor trying, you can sometimes assist it by pushing forward on the fixture you can feel through the headliner while holding the switch in the "close" position.

Come back to us if you want to repair the sunroof. There is a lot of experience here.
